Insurance pays for nursing and medications, but a family's experience in hospice is so much richer when our team includes volunteers for additional help and emotional support. We train volunteers to help in homes receiving hospice and then match them to households where they will be most useful. Hospice volunteer work may include:
Errands: picking up groceries, getting the mail, picking up household supplies, etc.
Companionship: playing games, sharing stories, helping your client write a journal or write to family, helping elderly clients with remote controls, reading social media or a book to clients, etc.
Transportation Assistance: helping a client get to doctors' appointments, social outings, hair appointments, etc.
Homemaking: helping a client with laundry, dishes, meal prep, cleaning, etc.
